Union Tattoo and Piercing
In 1873, a railroad was built and went through Manteca, Ca, just a few years after the town was founded by Joshua Cowell. At the time, the citizens wanted to call the new train station “Cowell Station”, but there was one with that name not too far from the town. They decided on “Monteca”, but due to a misprint, it was called “Manteca” (which is Spanish for lard). They accepted it as the name regardless, and thus the town of Manteca, CA was born.
Union Tattoo and Piercing opened its doors in 2017. We pride ourselves on our customer service and being a family oriented shop. We hope that our establishment will become like your second home. We offer a clean and welcoming environment, with highly trained professionals. Our artists come from all over the country, and are masters of their trade.
All of our staff will make sure that you have a fun and pleasant experience at our shop. Even if you don’t have tattoos or piercings, we encourage you to drop in and check it out. The shop is themed after a vintage train station!Because of our strong sense of family and community, our mission is to contribute to the community as much as we can. This town is a hub, centrally located between the nearby highways and railroads. The railroads are what inspired Union Tattoo’s name! We wanted to adopt the local community history and become apart of it. We can expect Manteca to continue to grow even more than it has in the last 40 years, and we want to be here for that.
We welcome you to come to our shop and make yourself at home.

Commonly Asked Questions
YES! Receiving a tattoo is a painful process. It requires the application of pigment under the first epidermal layer of the skin. The larger the tattoo the longer it will take to do, so small tattoos hurt less than large ones! But remember, people wouldn’t get a second tattoo if the first one hurt that bad.
There are many different factors that can cause fading. The most common is prolonged periods of direct sun light. Others are shades of ink used, the quality of pigment and quality of tattoo work. There are many factors that can cause your tattoo to fade; these are just a few of the main causes. Lighter colors tend to fade first.
The cost varies on the size of your tattoo, the complexity, and where you put it on your body. Our prices start at $50.00 and go up from there. Union Tattoo freely admits WE ARE NOT THE CHEAPEST! Remember, you get what you pay for and only have one chance to get one tattoo on that one spot on your body. Do it right! Go to a pro!
A few days after the tattoo is completed, the skin around the tattoo starts to peel, similar to sunburn. Picking at the skin should be avoided, because doing so can damage the artwork and increase the risk of infection. 7 to 10 days after getting a tattoo, the peeling process should be completed, leaving the skin shiny, and slightly wrinkled. After two weeks, the tattoo should appear fully healed.
